I'm looking for accurate tablature of the song Kaliponi Slack Key from the CD Honolulu City Lights by Keola and Kapono Beamer. Whether the tab is from a book, or online please let me know. For those who live in Hawaii the song is better known as the song KHON news plays at the end where everyone is doing shakas. Anyway if anyone can help me out that would be great. Thanks!

Hi Krystal,

Welcome to the taropatch. As far as I know, this tab does not exist in any book. I did hang out last year with some friends on Oahu who played this song. I'm not sure how they learned it though. I suspect they learned it by ear.

Aloha e Krystal,
I too am looking for tabs on the web, but it seems like Ki Ho'alu music is carried between players by ear most of the time.
Just like old Blues.

Don't know if it will do any good but you might try emailing Keola.

I have bought plenty of slack key tabs. I think the key word is "bought". You will not find a lot of "bootleg" stuff out there, and I'm not preaching, but these guys that make this stuff deserve to get paid. DancingCat.com has lots of resources. Many resources lead to Amazon.com where you can buy it. If you need titles, ask.
