These two have been out a year or two(2003), but I listen to both quite a bit. They each would make a good sampler for friends or as a gift, or even for one's self :0
1st: National Geographic Music Series Destination Hawai`i; Sounds of paradise Sugo Music SR0302 This came out to coincide with a TV special, I believe. Probably can get it through National Geographic Excellent four-fold, color mini-poster with brief bio's of all the artists, timeline of hawai`i, other tidbits. Nice package.
Features: Keali`i Reichel Genoa Keawe Kahauanu lake trio Sunday Manoa Makaha Sons of Ni`ihau Edith Kanaka`ole Wille K Amy Makana Ho`opi`i Bros. Gabby Puamana w/Irmguard Aluli Led Maiki Aiu Lake

2nd Holoholo Mai Maui; A Musical Journey Around The Island Ululoa Productions, Maui Like the title says, this travels around the island with place songs and comes with an excellent fat buggah book, packed with information, and a map in the center so you can find each place mentioned in the song.
Features: Richard Ho`opi`i Cody Pueo Pata Kaiolohia Funes Smith Ata Damasco Cliff Pali Ahue Laurie & Jake Rohrer(the producers) Pekelo Day Lei`ohu Ryder and the Pa`ia Elementary School, 2nd & 3rd grades

Both are excellent -- for local Silicon Valley people -- Sun Jose Hawaii tells me they are really good sellers at their store, too.
