This is a classic Hawaiian song but I have never found a guitar tab for it. And, yes I have searched amazon and other sheet music resouces. Any players that can help me find it?
It's more of a clasical hapa-haole song written by Harry Owens. An easy chord version can be found in "Jumpin' Jim's Gone Hawaiian" book for ukulele. It's usually done in the key of C, which is how I play it. I never TABbed it out. Go to Drop C and be creative. Have fun. It's a sweet little song. Check out Cindy Comb's version. She plays it in Keola's C.
"Sweet Leilani" is a nice song, but not a standard in the slack key world and more commonly associated with Bing Crosby (not a bad association). The only tricky spot is on the phrase "heavenly flower" where you go to the IV chord, then quickly to the IVminor chord before returning to the I chord for the next line. Everything else is pretty straightforward. It sounds fine in taropatch, too. Jesse Tinsley
Aloha TJ - Search engines prefer you spell correctly - my usual problem... just noted that you spelled Leilani, Lalani... maybe that's why you couldn't find it = auntie -
