Aloha all, I just heard that luthier Les Rietfors passed away from cancer, I think? I bought an ukulele from him that was quite spectacular. Although I don't play it very often, I enjoy it, and am sad at this news. Does anyone have anymore information about him? Mahalo nui, Julie
Julie, you're correct, Les suffered a sudden onset of cancer which was initially diagnosed in September and spread very aggressively. He underwent several high intensity treatments of chemotherapy and radiation that did not succeed. He passed peacefully in his sleep Thursday evening.
