Just got this from Sarah at work (note the long blond hair on the guy and you will just know he is related to Sarah - not sure yet if we should crow too much about it, but we are going to listen to it.)
------------------------------------------------------- Hi Sweetie,
No Joke. My cousin David Macias, my Aunt Janet's son, just won a Grammy as co-producer of "Beautiful Dreamer", a compilation of songs written by Stephen Foster, which was named best traditional folk album. I only found out a couple months ago from my dad that David was even a music producer and in Nashville no less. You can read about it here:

Friends, the Sweetie and xo part was for me :-)

Pops,
Makes sense. Before she went to live in France and England and Mexico and Vermont and Iowa, Sarah was born in Oberlin :-).
But, we can not take any credit for his accomplishments, not even by sharing DNA - it is just fun that he did this. Sarah is very happy for him and for the trad music world.

One of my favorite songs was always Ehukai's version of "Molokai Slide." While talking to my mother's second cousin on Maui last summer, I noticed a picture from the Na Hoku awards where her son, Mark Kalawai'a, won a Na Hoku (1994?) for arranging that song for the group. I never met him, but that makes me Mark's, uh, hmmm, cousin of some kind. It's a small world. Jesse Tinsley
