I have a wonderful Kamaka concert (high-g) that I dearly love, but I'm interested in picking up a something a little bigger and trying low-g tuning and slack tuning. Because I live in Ohio, there aren't a lot of things to check out. I also want to keep the purchase relatively within reason ($200-$400). Any recommendations as to Bushmans, Ponos or Meles which are all within the price range? Also, any recommendations as to the merits of a tenor vs. a baritone?

Hey Mark!
My friend has a real nice Mele tenor he picked up last year in Maui that he is just thrilled with. It has a great sound and good action. He compared it to some others in this price range and found the Mele to be the one for him. Of course, this is just his personal taste, etc. I played on it and really liked it too, but have not compared it with the Bushmans or Ponos.
Hope this helps a little. It's always hard to know what to buy without test driving them out first!

Hay, thanks, Maggie!
One quick question: what wood(s) is your friend's made with? Thanks, for the helpful info!
