Does anyone know of any ukulele or Hawaiian events in the San Francisco Bay Area on April 23 or 24? I'm betting a few of us will be traveling that way for the Northern California Ukulele Festival on April 25 (in Hayward).
I'm aware of Jim Beloff's workshop at Gryphon on Saturday and I know about the joint Chris Kamaka/Bryan Tolentino workshop in south San Francisco on Saturday, too (I've already done theirs twice now, but that doesn't mean I've mastered the material!). Is there anything else happening? Any get-togethers on Saturday afternoon/evening for some playing or listening to performances?

Yeah, if you haven't already noticed, Patick Landeza is organizing a jam session with Kevin Brown after the Festival. I would say that this is a MUST DO event (as is the Festival). I expect Patrick will be posting again shortly on this issue.

Aloha Tonya! We'll (Bryan Tolentino, Chris Kamaka, Asa Young and Hoku Zuttermeister) be playing at the Hukilau SF on Friday, April 22 and the Hukilau SJ on Saturday, April 23 from 7-10PM. www.dahukilau.com Besides our workshop on Saturday, we'll also be at the NCUF on Sunday. Hope to see you there! BTW, I hope to have my new CD available that weekend! And remember... Practice, Practice, Practice :) Aloha, Bryan |

Hey Tonya I just wanted to let you know that Billy Wilson and I have a regular Saturday morning freebie at Nabolom Bakery in Berkeley, playing 'ukuleles in our instrumental band Old Puppy with Kurt Stevenson. We start a bit after ten and go until at least one. There's a handful of old hapa haole tunes and a couple Hawaiian folk tunes, but a whole lot of jazz standards and the occasional soul ballad or polka. We sell our little gig record and try and keep a mellow groove going for a few hours - no show business. I hope you make it by when you're in the area. Bring an axe and join in for a few. Nabolom is just off College Avenue on Russell Street, across from the Seven Eleven just north of Ashby Avenue.
