I knew it, I just knew it. Look at the bottom (42-49) states at:

http://money.cnn.com/2005/05/27/Autos/test_scores/index.htm

Now I have backup for being freaked every time I drive around here, and for putting only 5k miles a year on our cars, for the last 6 years. (When in doubt, walk or fly - planes are far safer).

Reid,

I gotta agree. Having spent 5 days there last month.......I thought Californians were stupid drivers. I was amazed at Connecticut. Some of those folks need to be taken off the road. Maybe I was just in a bad area.

I notice Californina really didn't fare much better when you look at the percentages as a whole.

I ridin' my bike...

While I agree and have seen my share of road rage and insane drivers... I must also say in defense of my state that the percentages appear to only vary by a single question on average.

What I am saying is that people answered more questions correctly than I would have expected!

That's a hoot. People here in Washington don't even know where their turn signal switch is. Sometimes they hit it by accident as they spin the steering wheel.

They are also going color blind, can't tell green from yellow from red.

I didn't look at page 2; maybe it explains all.

So there in Silicon Valley, where everyone is nuts and on a tight schedule, people who can run huge computors and incredible machinery cannot figure out what that handle on the steering wheel is for. (turn indicator) I tell ya, I come out of the mountains and can't believe my eyes when I see the stupid things people are doing on the road.

However, everything pales in comparison with European drivers. You know, in Italy, cars only have a gas pedal and a horn! Nothing else is needed. And then in Argentina, they don't even need lines on the road. There are four lanes and seven cars driving abreast. Eeek! Keep your arms inside the windows or you'll be playing slack-key elbows.

PS, aloha jwn, how are you? My son has enjoyed the guitar! He's trying out for the Guitar Institute in London, will go there right after George's workshop. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Um... I notice that a certain state that is close to my heart did not even make the list. Oahu enjoyed a 9 hour gridlock a couple weeks ago. Imagin - 9 hours sitting in your car on a freeway in Honolulu. Shoots! You could run out of gas. Heck, you could run out of beer! Well, since you got your surfboard is on the roof, might as well walk to the beach and go surf. Can come back laters fo da Ka'a.
Aloha,
