Re: Waimea Slack & Uke, Kahilu Theatre's website sez they'll be posting the next season's calendar in August. Meanwhile, found this on Dennis Kamakahi's website calendar:
NOVEMBER 11 - 13 - Dennis and David Kamakahi at the Kahilu Theater Slack Key / Ukulele Camp, Waimea, Hawai'i (Big Island)

I was wondering if anything was happening "Uke wise" in O'ahu mid July? I will be there for a week 9-15 July and wanted to take a Uke with me in hopes of gaining some knowlege and experience. I had heard the someone held Uke sessions at the Waikiki Hilton but do not know any other information. Aside from catching some warm water waves at the Kaiser Bowl, maybe there will be a potential to learn while there. Any help would be appreciated.

Fran, I want to thank you for your guidence. The Na Mele Nei last sunday was filled with good spirit and ohana. There were 3 uke's in the audience that strumed along and music sheets were handed out to anyone who wanted to participate. Also during the event I was told of the Ukulele jam session that is held behind the Waikiki police station Thursday and Sunday evenings from 8-10pm. Tonight I hope to see Herb Ohta at the Village. Surf, sun and music....Life is good!
