I want to do a down & dirty CD cover as a birthday gift - setting it up in printshop -- here's what I can't figure out and would like some help with:
how can I set phrases of type at an angle - I want to make a figure like 3 "X's" for the cover using typed phrases.

Is there a trick to this? A cheap program?

Thanks for any help I can get.

Hi Raymond,
I think you need either a fairly advanced photo editing program to render the text as a graphic, like Photoshop, or a design/pagination program like Indesign, Quark or Illustrator. If you can figure it out, send the text to me and I'll compose it and send it back within a day.

MS Word and WordPerfect (on the PC) both have a "Word Art" feature that will make this possible with some fiddling.

Fran - Haven't been able to get the word art feature to do this because it is not one of the standard patterns
Jesse - If I don't get another solution, I'll contact you. No rush at this point.

Bending the text is doable in Jasc Paint Shop Pro. I have a copy and may be able to help too.

R, in my version of MS Word (2000) there's a "Free Rotate" tool that can be applied to all WordArt images. I was able to make an X fairly easily.

Ray,

If Jesse is fluent in Quark and Illustrator, he can probably whip that puppy out pretty fast.

Fran's also correct. You can do a reasonable cluge with Word.

Nancy, now that you know the platform, can you help?

I tried the Word thing - spent almost an hour and still can't get it right --
so.... Jessie, I'll get in touch with you tomorrow - after I put what I want into clear to follow directions.
