Thanks, Leonard. The costs should cover the CD and mailing, no problem. If gas gets anymore expensive, though, I'll need another buck from everybody to get to the post office! For those playing along at home, we're up to 30 contributors or so, with most reserving spots for two songs. Better clear some room on your iPods! Jesse Tinsley |

I keep trying, but her computer gives her a lotta grief on the net, so for at least now she's a TPer-once-removed by way of me :-/ |

Wow! You go away for a couple weeks (daughter's wedding in Iowa), and look what happens!
Aloha kakou - maybe, just maybe, I can get something together in time to submit (I don't have the studio access that I once did, but I might be able to put something down on a mini-disc, using a stereo mic. Or just beg a friend with a home-studio setup.)
`Ukulele is okay, yes? (since I don't play guitar) - and if I ask her nicely, *maybe* I can get Lori to join me, since she plays WAY better than I do.
Hoping to see some of you at the Kamakahi/Keawe/Recaido show in August; looks like I'll be emcee-ing all three shows (Seattle, Kalama, Eugene) along with Frank B. Shaner (radio icon from Hawai`i); our halau will also perform at other events in Kalama.

E komo mai, Gregg! All styles of Hawaiian music are encouraged, including ukes, even a capella himeni! How about "Ipo Lei Momi"? Don't worry about studio quality, just sing from the heart. I'm jealous that you get to be at the August shows including Kalama. What a treat. Jesse Tinsley |

Aloha Jesse, I'm impressed; you're weathering all the directives, requests, corrections, decodings of secret messages pretty well. Brave man! Hey, will you take a wire recording, convert it to 8-track, then to casssette? :) Can I order the 6-CD boxed set? can I, can I?
sorry, it's late

YOU can do whatever YOU want to do, Ross! People are thanking me for all my hard work, but I'm not doing any work yet. It'll get hairy in October when all this has to get done and mailed out. It's time for everyone to start tuning up and cranking out some music. I think it would be cool if someone used primitive recording techniques to "stomp" a new recording of Hawaiian music. Jesse |

Aloha Jesse. I just found out about your project, and I would like to submit a recording of me playing "Pu'u Anahulu" (Remembering Gabby), by David Apapa'i. I can submit it as a .wav file on CD-R disk, if that is OK. I can have it done by Aug. 15. Thanks for the good work on putting this together.

You're in, Bill! Sending a CD is best, if you can. I like Hui Aloha's version with Martin singing. Chicken skin! We're up to 33 contributors and moving closer to an mp3 CD. Mahalo! Jesse Tinsley |

Jesse,
Well, if you took just the primary selections from each contributor, you could easily fit them onto 2 CDA's. If you then took ALL of the selections so far (66 maybe?) you could also make ONE MP3 CD at 256Kbits that would fit them all. So you would have a 3-CD set that way with an MP3 of everything and CDA's of the submitter's first choice selections.

That's an excellent idea, Lawrence. Let's see how many actually get their selections in. Jesse Tinsley |
