I've been trying to find palaka shirts online and have been unsuccessful - only Japanese web sites are selling them and they're out of my size. Does anyone have any tips?

There's a place in Honolulu that keeps them in stock in 3 colors-- if it comes to mind, I'll get back to you. - Year and a half ago Sears on Oahu also had them.
I was looking for a replacement out in California, where I live -- found a pretty nice one at a local western Wear (" Cowboy," "Southwest") type of store for ar esonable price. |

Checked out Ebay - the red one is the only authentic one, but wrong size. The others aren't real palaka. I tried the Yahoo search engine and found someone who had a stash of Arakawa's palaka shirts but in XL. Thanks anyway, though! |

Although they don't seem to have a website anymore, T&L Mu`umu`u Factory on O`ahu does take phone orders. When I was in there last month, they were expecting a new shipment of palaka shirts, so you might want to call or email and place an order?

Another alternative is to purchase the fabric, and create a custom shirt: http://www.barkclothhawaii.com |

Ditto on Auntie Maria's suggestion on purchasing the cloth. I think Fabric Mart on Oahu also sells the print. Fabric Mart can also be found on internet. -slkho |

Just got off the phone with T&L Muumuu Factory, no luck. Unfortunately, my sewing skills are nil...and no time to learn. Oh well...
Thanks anyway to all who posted!!!

Check out tailors in your area. I had a shirt made a few years ago for about $35, plus fabric, at a local tailor |

Hmm, the plot thickens. RJS, that's a great idea...was it an aloha shirt? |

Actually it was -- I had a specific piece of old material that I found at Aloha Stadium flea mrkt. that I wanted to have made into a shirt. I had to call 5 or 6 tailors -- some wouldn't do it, some charged too much -- found this elderly Russian lady with a shop out of her house - she did a great job |

Cliff, What size are you looking for? I'm heading to the Big Island in a couple of days and I'll keep an eye open for any Palaka shirts. My brother had some a long time ago but they were his "uniform" shirts for a job he had at one of the local hotels.
