Ever have a 9 volt battery die in the middle of a gig? I have an older effects box that seems to last about an hour and a half per alkaline battery. Just enough to almost get me through a performance. Almost.
I went into Radio Shack the other day and found a really great solution. They sell a rechargable nicad 9 volt battery (with charger) for $23. It is sold as a battery pack for model race cars. I soldered a plug to match my effects box onto it, and now have a battery that "keeps on going, and going, and going". After the gig, I plug it in, and it is ready for another couple days of jamming. They are good for about 1000 recharge cycles. (Is this cheaper than buying alkaline batteries? Do the math.)
By the way, I do NOT recommend the regular Radio Shack 9 volt nickle hydride rechargable battery. Read the fine print: they only put out 8.4 volts. My effects box can eat one of these every 40 minutes.

Why not skip the battery entirely and just use a (the) power adpater?
