Aloha Marzullo,
Haven't played it since JUne and I know I would forget the tuning but Cyril gave us some tabs which included the tuning and I cannot remember where I put them. I remember taking them home so I know it's in my house somewhere (alzeimer moment bruddah!). I will look for them this weekend because I wanted to share the tuning with the other guys at the kanikajamapila this 21st, if they are not aware of it yet which I doubt. I promise to email it to you or if you have a fax, I will fax the tabs that went with our Pahinui session. The thing I like about this tuning is you can just pick the strings alternately on the open chord and it has that natural Hawaiian rhythm already. All the other guys in our class shared the same observation. You will like it.

Revisiting this older post... I do not have a guitar in front of me. Which tuning is this?

C Major (C-G-E-G-C-E)
C Mauna Loa (C-G-E-G-A-E)
C Wahine (C-G-D-G-B-D)

Anyway, I was just curious if you guys had made any progress with this C tuning. How's it going? Not sure why I think I have time to explore a new tuning right now but - hey - I'm curious. For some reason, the spare time I think I have in my mind never matches the time measured by my watch.

Andy

Ps. Ed - I enjoyed your gorgeous island moment photos. Hope you don't mind me looking at your marathon photos too.

Aloha Andy,
No we haven't done very much with the "Pahinui C", specially me, but this will change shortly. Finally retired at the end of January but still too "busy" about other things. Saw Kevin and some of the guys last Saturday at our Waihee jam but strangely, without Slack Key Bill. (Hey, wassup bruddah Bill? Heard you visited the hospital? Keep us posted.)

You are welcome to browse my other photos re "Island Moments" and thanks for the complement.

Andy,

It's the "C Major," I think, which, back when, we used to call "Atta's C," IIRC.

The second one, "C Mauna Loa," has become a real favorite for me in the past several months. It's kind of a bitch to get started on, but oh, so sweet, with such a pretty sound profile--worth the effort IMNSHO.
