Aloha everyone -
Keola's been talking to potential instructors for both the feb and june camps & I've been working like mad to get the Aloha Camp website up to date. The story so far:
As always, the Beamer `ohana will be on hand: Kola Beamer, Moanalani Beamer, Aunty Nona Beamer and Kaliko Beamer Trapp
Aloha Kohola Winter Camp - February 5-11, 2006 Instructors include Anakala Pilipo Solatorio - traditional Hawaiian crafts and cultural practices; Pat Cockett - `ukulele and slack key guitar; Fred Lunt - Hawaiian steel guitar and slack key; Mark Kailana Nelson - Hawaiian swing guitar; Dennis Lake - Buil;d your own `ukulele. We expect to add one or more instructors as soon as Keola gets back from Japan...
Aloha Music Camp, June 18-24, 2006 Instructors include Anakala Pilipo Solatorio - traditional Hawaiian crafts and cultural practices; Pat Cockett - `ukulele and slack key guitar; John Keawe - Hawaiian slack key guitar; Hope Keawe - hula; Mark Kailana Nelson - Hawaiian swing guitar; Dennis Lake - Build your own `ukulele. And More To Come!
We are taking reservations now for both camps. http://www.alohamusiccamp.com/
And while you're there, check out the wonderful new pix from National Geographic photographer Rik Cooke.
See you on Moloka`i!

Here's some very good news for anyone wishing to build their own `ukulele at the Aloha Camp.
Due to popular demand, we've changed the age requirements so that kids between the ages of 12 and 18 may take Dennis Lake's popular class along with a parent or gaurdian. That's right, little Junior or Junette can build a uke right alongside Mom, Dad or Uncle Buck. All we ask is that you, the adult, set a good example and don't run with the scissors and be responsible for your kid.
The class is offered at both the February and June camps - but hurry, it fills up fast.
cheers,
Mark |

Aloha Music Camp is held at the incredibly beautiful Kaupoa Beach on Moloka`i's west end - the Aloha Music Camp website has full details, and pictures (click on "Facilities" on the home page)

I've added a Press Resources page to the Aloha Camp website.
Here's where you'll find pdfs of our press releases, instructor's bios, and high rez photos for publication. This page will be updated from time to time as news becomes availabel.
Go to the home page www.alohamusiccamp.com and scroll down to the link for Press.

Check out the ultra cool Winter Camp T-shirts designed by our own Jean Smith. You may know her under her nom d' web - Neeej.
Jean's delightful design features a happy humpbacked whale playing the `ukulele -- kohola kani kapila!
The design is available on T-shirts, mugs, totebags and other swag at our camp store: go to www.alohamusiccamp.com and scroll down to the store link. Or go directly to the store: http://www.cafepress.com/alohacampstore. And don't forget to pick up on of our dandy new clocks. Just the thing to tell you when to play yer guitar...
Mahalo, Jean!
Speaking of the winter camp -- despite the rumor that the camp is sold out there is still space available. This includes space in Dennis Lake's amazing "Build you own `ukulele" class. If you've ever wanted to find out what it takes to make a musical instrument, here's your chance!
Cheers,
Mark |
