WooHoo!!! The gig hosted by Island Bazaar in Huntington Beach was absolutely terrific!!! For me, this is THE BEST way to enjoy an evening of great music. They started out with a rousing rendition of Ulupalakua (on my list of things to learn). Joining Uncle Henry and Uncle Mark were Pete Ka'hele and Nipona. Pete was on guitar and Nipona played a mean bass... and she sings beautifully as well... Mark was there for the dulcimer fest so we were treated to him playing that as well as his guitar. And then he played an amazing piece he had written called Gaviotas - on the ukulele but all slack method... WOW!! Some of our camp friends, taropatch friends, and Landeza workshop friends were there and all seem to be looking forward to the Ukulele Festival in Cerritos on Oct 1. I really hope Mark makes it down again to treat us. Uncle Henry plays at Bob's Ohana in Gardena Friday nights. I know this doesn't even put food on the table, so Mahalo nui to the artists for sharing their music with us in this intimate setting!! n
