Hi -
My new book, Getting Started in Computer Music (Thompson Course Technology) is now avialable.
It's an overview of just about everything you can do with music on a personal computer, including chapters on MIDI, looping and recording. I wrote it from the point of view of someone with little or no recording experience and filled it with practical advice and tips. It includes info on selecting hardware & software, choosing and setting up mics, taming room noise problems, etc.
You can get it on-line at a number of places, as of today Amazon had by far the best price,

I have a few copies - send me an e-mail if ya want one from the source, so to speak. The usual TaroPatch 20% discount applies, 'natch.
Here's a link to my website, where you can order the puppies direct: http://www.mark-o.com/
Happy recording!
