I file my callouses - gently, kind of buffing them. I get divots in the middle of them from the strings (not cones like Larry) and the dents start to flake or the callus edge to snag on a fret. So I smooth them out. It never seems to diminish the effectiveness of my calluses.

Hello Sarah, Jeff, and Ralph -

Let's see, file or gnaw? On one hand gnawing might help improve my pull-offs. On the other filing may result in a better slide.

Think I'll try a fine grit file.
