Uncle Claude Kouchi has been creating Hawaiian Musical instruments for years, including first ever stand up Bass, all out of Koa.

Can you imaging a stand up Bass all out of Koa.

Today he has announced that he will open an 11,000 sq ft facility in Wilmington Ca. to manufacture his beautiful musical creations.

He makes a variety of products out of Koa so check out www.Kouchicreations.com

Thanks Don.

Sarah and I met Uncle Claude on Maui a few years ago and Sarah recorded a slack key kid's song for his grandkids. A while later, he sent Sarah a lovely koa hand mirror with a picture of a toad inlaid on the back, in remembrance of her singing (and playing) the "Toad Song". There is a similar mirror (the one with the assymetric handle) on one of his web pages. Lovely work, great guy (and a heckuva engineer, too).

A look at the site will display probably 50 different items he makes by hand.

He also has beautiful 1959 Porsche 356-A listed for sale which he has tricked out with all kinds of goodies.

Claude has also made stand-up bases for John Koko of Makaha Sons. I think Claude told me that he had made them 4 or 6 for John and John really likes his work.
