Ooh, same day as the conclusion of the New York Uke Fest, sponsored this year by KoAloha Ukukele. Will this be a conflict for any of the performers we usually see at Hayward? Bryan and the Side Order Band, for example... What about exhibitors (Kamaka, etc.)? |

So KonaBob, do we get to see your lovely being at this show? And will you bring your lovely Missus? I'm looking forward to it. This year we will not be playing with Michelle Kiba, so we'll have a free day to do whatever we want. No stress! Julie |

Shirley and I are going to be in New York, Julie, but we will be in San Jose visiting my brother before and after the NY uke fest. It would be great to get together with you, Larry, and any of the other folks in the area. We are waiting for KOA --> SFO ticket prices to come down before we know the dates we will be in CAL. Too bad they decided to do the Hayward Festival at the same time as New York. I know that many of the great uke players are booked for New York already. -Konabob |

It's more the other way around KonaBob. The Northern California Uke Festival has been running for 14 years or so, always on the last weekend in April.
The New York event is the newcommer so it would have been polite for New York Folks to check their dates before scheduling. It seems that few event promoters ever do this kind of check, and even if they did they would probably not check so far away.
However, if your are in town for a day or two let us know and somebody will surely cobble a get-together of some sort!!

Thanks for pointing that out Lawrence. My thinking was that the Hayward group didn't have their web site up until yesterday, and they don't have any of their performers lined up yet. The New York group has had theirs up for several months and has had their performers listed for most of that time. You are right about not checking with each other. I know that there were many of us from the islands who were hoping take in both shows! Well, I am sure I can find something musical to do around San Jose from 4/23 - 4/25! Any ideas would be welcome! Another teensy-weensy difference between the N.C. Uke Fest and the N.Y. Uke Fest is the price:
New York:
Full Festival tickets $125 until February 14
Full Festival Tickets $145 February 15 thru April 15
Full Festival Tickets $175 at the door, CASH ONLY
Northern Cal:
a whopping $5
A few years ago if you were performing you still had to pay $2 to get in, now performers actually get in free. (but are not paid)
I vaguely suspect that they are actually paying some of the performers in New York - which explains why they are getting more professional attention!!
