Hans Hanson here! Just wanted to say Hello! Moved to Oahu about a year ago from Portland, OR. I'm an ukulele enthusiast and slowly getting into appreciating the slack key guitar. I'm an old cat who likes old school styles like jazz and tin pan alley style songs.
Looking to learn about new uke players and new sounds.
Aloha, Hans

If you can catch him, see if Jake Shimabukuro is playing at Aloha Tower/Chai's Island Bistro. Now there's some new ukulele. And of course Herb Ohta, Jr and David Kamakahi are gerat. |

E komo mai to Taropatch, Hans! So, you migrated from wet, wet, wet, Oregon to paradise, eh? This year, you'll be glad you did. We're drowning here! You will find some wonderful and talented performers, teachers, and fellow players over there. Just check out the music scene and sooner or later you'll get connected. You've found this site, which also provides a wealth of information from many wonderful people from all over the map. Good luck with your future musical discoveries!

Aloha Hans,
Sounds like you're in heaven now, away from rainy Oregon. Of course, when it rains in Hawai'i, it's different, isn't it? With a name like Hans, are you by any chance from the European Continent? One of my first boyfriends was named Hans... We lived in the Netherlands at the time. Welcome to this great site, it's great to have new friends.

Welcome, Hans, Check out mele.com for clues to music on the islands. Also see if you can contact the band Maunalua,(Bobby Moderow) and get in touch with their uker (ukeleleist?) Bruce. I didn't get much help from the local music stores in trying to track down sources of live music, but you may have better luck. YOu might just try going to the beach with your axe (or is a uke considered a hachet?) and see if you draw a crowd. I'm a guitar player, don;t know uke much, bet there are o lot of ukers here, so have fun...ukelelers? Best one I've heard so far as names goes is "Cool Hand Uke" |

Raymond, Thanks, that is the name of the mujsic store that put me in touch with Bobby Moderow, and they may still be able to do that for Hans |
