What's funny is that they won't let you know you've "won" the privilege to purchase one until your name is selected, and your name is only selected after the instruments are complete, which they say could take 18 months for all 100 (and I say that's pushing it). But once they notify you that your name is drawn, you have 48 hours to pay. So essentially, anyone who is in this lottery will need to tie up their money for up to 18 months not knowing if you'll be a buyer or not. I guess this is what credit cards are for, but good grief.

And what happens if you DON'T have the money to pay for it IF your name is drawn. It doesn't look like a "contract", so do you sell your "rights" to a buddy. Or do they just pick the next name. For those that gotta have one, do you enter all your family and friends in the lottery, take the first one that wins and ignore the rest? Should be interesting. Glad I'm not hooked on the Uke. I can get a pretty nice guitar for that amount.

I imagine some buyers have no intentions of keeping
the instrument but would like to turn around and
sell it sometime down the road for a profit.
I found the disclaimer at the bottom of the form to
be interesting. The final price of the finished
product could be doubled if the makers so deemed. |

| Maybe their lawyers just made them put that in there to discourage people from buying and then immediately reselling at a higher price. If they thought Kamaka would raise the price it would make these "scalped" instruments less desirable. |

| I own two vintage Kamakas so you're preaching to the choir. Although I've heard from several people that Kamaka is not what it used to be. I am not trying to be contrarian with these posts, just realistic. I'm sure you could get even an upgraded Kamaka tenor ukulele without Jake's name for less than half of what this one costs. I've just never been one to want someone else's initials to lend me false credibility by association. That's kind of how I view these signature models, they're vanity products first and foremost, or collector's museum pieces. I would guess that most of them will not even be played for fear of getting a scratch on them and ruining their future resale value. |

Looks great!! I'd get one if I had the spare cash... hmmmm, sell off a few of my shares? 
It DOES say "High End Limited Edition", so there ya go.. I recently saw a DQ uke go for over 11G's on ebay, so a Jake Signature Model by the master is not such a bad deal. Granted, it's not for everyone..but hey!  |
