UKULELE WIZARD JAKE SHIMABUKURO TO RELEASE SOLO ALBUM THIS FALL
GENTLY WEEPS HITS STREETS SEPTEMBER 19

"Jake's crowd-pleasing solo show was dazzling enough to suggest that stardom is in the offing for this 29-year-old Honolulu marvel. Rock, blues, jazz, classical, bluegrass and flamenco - the boyish-looking Shimabukuro played them all with skill and dexterity... but he rarely let his jaw-dropping prowess outweigh the passion and artistry that distinguishes a true musician from a flashy showoff." - George Varga, The San Diego Union-Tribune

Ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro has finally recorded an album that reflects his live performances. Gently Weeps (Hitchhike Records 1105) comes out September 19.

"Recently, I've been touring a lot as a solo artist," says Jake, "and it was suggested to me that I record an album to directly reflect my live 'bandless' set. The songs I chose for this project are tunes I frequently perform at my shows. There are a couple of new ones, but these are mainly songs that I've been playing for a while."

The feel of this album captures the energy of a live performance. The 12 solo tracks include fan favorites "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," "Misty," "Ave Maria," "Blue Roses Falling," "Spain," and a "Heartbeat/Dragon" medley. Also included on the album are five bonus small-combo tracks.
