Slack Key Guitar Workshop George Kahumoku
Explore the fascinating world of Hawaian Slack Key Guitar in this special 2 part workshop taught by one of the masters. A rare opportunity! Please visit kahumoku.com for an in-depth look at the history and art of slack key guitar.
Beginning students must have some experience in standard or other tuning and be able to tune their guitar (standard tuning) and to play at least one song. Ability to read music or tab is not required. Knowledge of chord progression theory is helpful but not required.
Students should bring a guitar and a music stand, tape recorder, capo, pencil or pen. Students will learn how to tune and play at least one song per night, and they will learn at least one slack key tuning, a chant, chord shapings, alternating bass, rhythmn, and some turn arounds.
2 Part Workshop, November 8th and 9th, 7:30 - 8:30PM $34 (members), $40 (non-members) for one session $60 (members), $70 (non-members) for both sessions Please Note: Participants may take one or both sessions.
