Aloha kakou!
I read the following post on nahenahe.net and received permission from Keola D to repost it here. I thought there might be some folks here in the 'patch who would be interested in helping out.
quote: I received an email from a colleague here at UHH, a computer science professor who is teaching a class in computer animation, and they are creating animation videos of various Hawaiian stories and legends. They are looking for some instrumental music to use in the bed, mostly behind dialogs. They plan put the final products on the Internet to show off their work and perhaps attract new students to the program. They are not going to be sold; it’s strictly for educational use. I’ve already talked to some artists and labels and gotten permission for this class to use some cuts. If you have any instrumental music that you would be willing to add to the library that these students can use, please let me know. Please note that it is best if the music is original. They can’t use the music if you recorded someone else’ copyrighted compostion, say, an instrumental rendition of a James Taylor tune.
Credit will be given in the trailing credits, and I’m looking at this as an opportunity to teach these (mostly) young folks about the issue of copyright and the Internet, and not simply using copyrighted music they find on the net or even that they’ve bought themselves on CD or online. If you are interested, just send me an email.
