Aloha all,
'tis the season - or at least getting close to it. I was in Costco (the $100 store) the other day and saw what might make a decent Christmas present or just a beater/travel uke. They currently have a concert size uke for sale that claims to have Koa sides and top. Chrome plated tuners, a soft gig bag and pitch pipe all for about $90. The finish is glossy and a bit too thick in my opinion but the trim work looks ok. Made in China for Washburn (if I remember right) but it isn't marketed under the Oscar Schmidt name - kinda looks like one though. Might be worth a look if you're in the market. Didn't play it - it was strapped to the display area with a fairly hefty packing strap to deter someone from walking away with it.
