Anyone heard of a song "Nane" ? it's not on Huapala .org or mele aloha book. would like the lyrics....chorus/verse goes something like... pua o punawai oi ka lewa o ka wai o ka wai o ka ipu haohao...mahalo Ken
Liner notes (which include lyrics & translation) state this about the song -- composer James K. Kaholokula Sr. from Kaua`i. This song is a tongue-twister!:
This song by the composer of "Pua Olena", is a musical version of a riddle game. According to his son, Robert (Robbie) Kaholokua, this song illustrates the craft for which his father was so well known. The word "ipu" is the word for the container, as well as for imported melons and pumpkins. And "pipi`i" and "mapunapuna", which mean overflowing or bubbling, can mean soda water and could also mean a highball drink.
