I know it's kinda rude but I just have to brag a little. The Patrick Landeza Band played at the Hana Hou/Isuzu restaurant in San Francisco's Japan Town, last night. When I contacted him about buying a couple of copies of "Waialea Jammin'" he invited me to do a set at the restaurant. Lynn, my long suffering spouse, had just gotten back from a week out of town but she insisted that I go if I had a chance to play.
I'm sure glad she talked me into it. It was great to see Patrick and his band, we had some good sushi and a teri plate, and I got a little more stage time - metaphorically speaking, because there was no stage, of course. Patrick had me do a half-dozen tunes solo during his second set, and it's been a long time since I've had that kind of fun. There's no rush like playing music for an audience, and the folks who come to see Patrick are like the nicest extended family you'd ever want to meet. They responded very warmly and kept me from having a meltdown.
Thanks, Patrick, for your generosity in sharing your stage.

Thanks for bragging Fran. Wish I could have been there. It sounded like a great night.
I was listening to Patrick's CD in the car this weekend. "Nintendo Hula" just cracks me up! I should have written that song. In college, I majored in International Studies, but I minored in Nintendo (Street Fighter). Anyways, congrats on your sharing your playing with an audience. Way to go!!! |
