Being a very visual learner, i would like to get a good video recorder for lessons, camps, jams, and my son's rugby games. Any suggestions? I lost track of these things back in the days of the 5 pound jobbies that took a full sized videotape. I have recently looked a at few digital ones but they hve small capacity, maybe only 15 to 30 minutes. I would like something that records for an hour at least, or that has some format to change cards, discs, tapes easily and without recharging so that an hour to 2 hour performance, game, lesson could be recorded in its entirety.

We use a Sharp Mini DV camcorder which does a decent job for us. The tape is good for about an hour. It's easy to transfer the video to a computer and somewhat easy to create DVDs on the computer. We then bought an aftermarket battery with a 5 hour capacity. It looks big and clunky but we never worry about running out of juice.

Thanks Fran. I went and got a Canon Mini DV today and it looks like it will do the job well. Need to get an extended life battery, then i will be set |

Fran, Thanks for the tip. The Canon i got worked great for my son's rugby game (I need to focus more on what i am doing, though; seasickness set in during the watching of the video) It is easy to use and will come in handy for guitar camp |
