Christmas time is coming and we have a tradition at our house. Santa always brings my hubby new strings for his instruments (5-string banjo, 12 and 6 string guitars, 6 string electric, mountain dulcimers). On his 12-string he always has used D'Addario extra light because of the tension on the neck. Now he is playing ki ho`alu on the 12-string. Are those D'Addario XL's good for slack key? Anything better? Any suggestions on little things to put in his stocking?
Hehehe...an open ended question like that!! Ok, I'll be serious.
Anything Elixr would be on my list (nanoweb, phosphor bronze). Not sure they make those for the 12 string yet. BUT, best bet is to find out what he likes instead of surpizing him. Strings are a VERY personal thing...I know I would only use what I like.
How about an Intelitouch tuner? Does he have one of those? Picks!!! Can never have enough of those..but again, the choice is highly personal. How about one of those cd players that slow down the music so you can learn it? Fits nicely into a (large) stocking. Of course (shamless self plugging here) I have a beautiful GNX3000 guitar station for sale (in the classifieds). Everyone needs one of those!!! (but it won't fit in the stocking...looks GREAT under the tree!)
