Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar workshop with George Kahumoku Date: Saturday, February 3, 2006 and Sunday, February 4, 2007 Time: 9:00-11:00am This two-day workshop will cover playing Ki’ohalu (Slack Key) guitar in taro patch F (CFCFAC). Uncle George has played with legendary musicians such as Richard Ho'opi'i, and Aunty Genoa, who modulate from F to G to C and A, then back to F again. Modulation sometimes adds dynamics as well as variation and power to a song. Many Slack Key players get stuck when they have to change keys or modulate. George's unique approach will have an emphasis on jamming with other 'ukulele players and musicians. Pre-requisite: Ability to tune a guitar and play at least one song in standard or any slack key tuning. Must be able to hold various guitar chord shapings.

He will also cover jam-etiquette and taking turns at singing and pa'ani (playing solo riffs).
