Aotearoa (Ao kea loa), both islands. And we would take guitars and speak Maori. The English spoken there is unintelligible :-)
But,we would have to buy sleep-flat berths on the plane(s), or else my spine would be splinters by the time we got there :-(

Ahh, somebody has a jones for ancient cultures...and nature. It is certainly a huge bonus when a destination has beauty and the mystique of an extinct culture that tantalizes the imagination.
Cultures, whether ancient or current would play a big part in my fantasy travels too. I wouldn't pass on a chance to go where there is a warm ocean, some palm trees, and a good beach either. |
What? You mean high "E" is the TOP string. No way dude! That changes everything! |

I would love to spend extended time in Hawai`i and make my pilgrimage to places spoken about in the many mele pana. I also would like to eat my way across the world. You can learn much about cultures by studying the food they eat. I would love to visit Italy and small towns in the Calabria region such as Oriolo, where my husband's kupuna come from; and Messina, Sicily, where more of his kupuna are from ono grinz in Italy, for sure). I would like to drive across the US mainland, stopping at any place that looked interesting. I have found that every small town has something they are proud of and something they like to show off to visitors. |

This brings up an interesting point. HML06 lives in Hawaii and probably would like to see something different. I had lived all of my life in Hawaii until I moved to Olympia four years ago and on just about every one of our trips, when people find out we're from Hawaii, inevitably they would ask, "What are you doing here?" The answer is that as beautiful a place as Hawaii is, if you live there you'd want to see something different too sometimes.
Although I haven't travelled extensively, I have been to quite a few places including Europe. And I have found that Hawaii holds a certain mystique just about anywhere in the world that you might go. So one of the nice benefits of being from Hawaii is that when people find out, they want to talk to you and ask you a lot of questions. Being from Hawaii is a great ice-breaker when you're travelling. |
Aloha, John A. |

Pitch a tent on the edge of John Keawe's property. Maybe if I waved a lot, he'd see me and wander over. |
