For ukers only. Are you there Dr. Cookies and Seattle kanikapila gang. Here's an easy "sounds like" slack key number I just posted.

Sure sounds like! And I'm not a uker!

Good fun -- thanks!

I wish I had the talent to play that by ear. I see your fingers moving up and down the strings on the right and left side of the ukulele. I certainly hope that you continue to put these videos up. They're a unique learning tool even without the sheet music, in terms of attempting to develop a degree of familiarity with the rhythms of this style of music linked to visual feedback relative to how the works are performed. That gentle shifting of rhythm and tonal emphasis is not easy to achieve.

Thank you.

Mahalo for sharing Uncle Dave . . . a great rendition of a slack key classic!

TP'ers: I've recently enjoyed some direct communication with Uncle Dave . . . what a nice guy! And in a few months, he'll have neat program to offer us that want to learn this style. I can't wait!

Don

PS: But now I can't get "Livin' On Easy" out of my head . . .

Is that Sarah like in Sarah Whitaker? If yes, I want to post your MP3 website of Ka Manu in my lesson book.

Aloha, Uncle Dave,

Yes that's me - and I'd be honored to have you reference my version of Ka Manu. You're very kind to ask.

aloha,
Sarah

P.S. I recommend the hi-fi version -- the sound is significantly better.

Uncle Dave,

This was Sarah's absolutely first try at recording years ago and was done on very primitive equipment.

I have a somewhat cleaned up version and, although it is nowhere near high quality, it is *lots* better than the version on the web. It is much easier to make out what is going on in the song.

I can send you an MP3 of this better version, if you like.
