I have been gone for awhile...working with new guitars and finger picks. I keep coming back to Alaska picks because, well, they are a great idea. Their use is predicated on the idea that one cannot (for whatever reason) grow finger nails long enough. Unfortunately, they do require some nail edge to secure them. Even so, I would still experience slippage (especially the thumb pick).
I have discovered a little trick that takes care of this (by accident). I had surgery on my foot to cure a problem with one of my other hobbies, long distance running. To secure the wound, the doctor used a skin glue called Mastisol. Kind of smelly (in a pine sense). But it is latex free and way sticky, but dries flat. I decided to put some under my Alaska picks. Whoah! Now that worked way better than I thought!
Perhaps there are other skin-nice glues...this is all I had. But it ain't cheap...$15.75 for a 15ml bottle. But you do not need much. My guess is it last a LONG while. I found it at www.metromedicalonline.com.
PS: Nu Skin glue smells like airplane glue...not sure I would put that on Alaska picks. Plus it is not nearly as sticky as Mastisol.
