I don't recall seeing a previous announcement but for those of you traveling to Kauai within the next 12 weeks and looking to play music while you're there, here's an opportunity you won't want to pass up. The annual "E Kanikapila Kakou" begins this Sunday, February 11th and runs for the next 12 consecutive Mondays. It's a free event (donations welcome) providing attendees the experience of jamming with local professional musicians and possibly learning new tunes. There will be several slack key artists participating this year with Ledward Kaapana opening on Sunday, the 11th. The event is held at the "Island School", adjacent to Kauai Community College and more info can be found at http://www.gardenislandarts.org/ekk.html

Sorry, looks like there was a schedule change and Ledward will be performing on Sunday, February 18th as part of the opening concert, for which there is a charge. He'll be performing with Mike Kaawa, Brother Noland and Brittni Paiva. All Monday kanikapila sessions are free... |
