GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL LESSONS AVAILABLE!

If you haven't had a chance to take a lesson from Herb, here is a wonderful opportunity. Having played since the age of 3 and taught since the age of 11, Herb is an amazing instructor with a true understanding of the instrument. So take advantage of this rare opportunity. Brush up on technique or learn something new. Catered to your individual needs, private lessons are a great way to expand your knowledge and have some fun! All levels and all ages welcome!

Learning from his father, the legendary Ohta-San, Herb began playing the ‘ukulele at age of three and began teaching at his father’s school at age 11. In Honolulu, Herb teaches six days a week and continues to record, produce and compose when he is not traveling around the globe performing and conducting instructional workshops. Herb's accomplished career includes five solo projects, six duet albums, exclusive Japan releases, and more than 40 recordings. He is a two-time Hawai'i Music Award Winner and the first 'ukulele artist to be signed by Toshiba EMI, Japan. It is Herb's goal to share the beauty of Hawai'i's music, its culture, and the 'ukulele with people all over the world.

We try to attend at least one workshop or private lesson when Herb, Jr is in the bay area. I must admit, we felt a little intimidated taking our first private lesson from Herb. But, it didn't take long for us to feel at ease with Herb - a really nice guy! We have also attended the beginning workshop, advanced workshop, and recently attended his strumming workshop. All three workshops were great! His instruction on music theory will help anyone learn chord structure, and notes on the fret board, and with a little practice, you'll be able to figure out any chord you need to play.
