Zach helps guide her in what music selections to learn and record, but he feels that other musicians should record with her, to bring out her best performances. He's a great musician - and quite humble about his talent. He played live with her when she was at Seattle's Bumbershoot festival a few years ago. |

LovinK:
Her dad, Zach, is included on all of her albums -- he's the male falsetto you hear on most of the tracks. Speaking of falsetto singers, we must not forget her uncle (Zach's brother) the late activist and awesome falsetto singer, George Helm. Listen to clips on his "A True Hawaiian" CD: http://www.mele.com/music/artist/george+helm/a+true+hawaiian/

I went to the source -- asked Rai if her mom was a Koko. Here's her reply:
"No Auntie, my dad...Dads Mom (Melanie Koko) and John and Jerome's Dad were brother/sister. So yes, my dad's mother was a Koko...she passed away in '98." |

Thank you Raiatea for another great CD. Another must have for one's collection contemporary Hawaiian female singers.
