I just run across these slack key tabs on the Web, offered for free by one Kevin Johnson. They appear to be his arrangements, so there shouldn't be a problem with posting the link:
http://freetabs.members.easyspace.com/groups/HAWAIIAN_SLACK_KEY.zip
The ZIP file includes the following (all in Tabledit format, for which a free viewer is available at www.tabledit.com):
Aloha Ia No O Maui Kaleohano Kananaka Likoa's Mele Na Pua Lei `Ilima Ninipo Ho`nipo Nohili E Pua Lililehua Ua Like No A Like

Craig,
Thanks. Have you tried these? I just opened the first, "Aloha Ia No O Maui", and the tab and the score don't seem to match. For instance, measure 1 melody line is E,G,A,B,A,G by the score, but B,D,E,F#,E,D by the tab.
Never mind, I just noticed the little red c5. It must mean capo on the 5th fret. Make like a ukulele! Thanks again.

Thanks Craig, I am finally getting a chance to find out how to use "tabledit" which I downloaded months ago. I didn't know the thing will actually play the song for me. Very cool, and I just love free stuff. I am not sure which is slower: learning to play slack key or learning to talk about it and use it with the computer. Jerry |
