HULA Winter Session
The Hawai`i Cultural Foundation will be starting its winter hula session on January 5 through March 11, 2003. Please see below for details.
Beginning Hula, Tuesdays, January 7 - March 11 (10 wks) from 6:30pm - 7:30pm This introduction to traditional Hawaiian dance concentrates on basic hula 'auana (modern) movements and aspects of the Hawaiian culture -- language, songs, history, folklore and poetry.
Advanced Beginning Hula, Tuesdays, January 7 - March 11 (10 wks) from 7:30pm - 8:30pm Continuation of beginning hula concentrating on basic hula 'auana (modern) movements with the introduction of traditional 'auana choreography.
Intermediate Hula, Sundays, January 5 - March 9 (10 wks) from 12:00pm - 1:30pm Traditional Hawaiian intermediate dance classes concentrating on refining basic hula techniques. An emphasis on performance techniques, learning choreography, the kaona (meaning behind a song) will be discussed throughout the session. Instructor's approval required.
Keiki Hula Ages 5-12 This introduction to traditional Hawaiian dance provides children with a foundation in basic hula movement and introduces aspects of Hawaiian culture including language, songs, storytelling, and traditional Hawaiian arts and crafts.
