Dusty's working on one to give to me next week, so that's four I'll have for you.

Don't panic yet Raymond!

Cynthia and I are also planning to record this weekend.
Unless something goes wrong, CB will have an Uke & Vocal
piece and I will submit a guitar solo. We could also
possibly submit an ensemble piece with Guitar, Uke and
Vocals, but you said that you did not want more than one
submission per person. Also the pieces we do are almost
always longer than 4 minutes, so we may have to re-do the
arrangements to accomodate your time limit. (I go by the
theory that a good song should be a long song)

Anyway, you will probably get several more submissions right
around your deadline time!

(I think this is a human-nature thing)

Larry,

It is not only a human-nature thing in the way you meant it. It is also a human-nature thing (of the stupid variety) when the fuel oil delivery guy pumps 90 gallons of water into your (our) 275 gal. #2 fuel oil tank and it takes nearly a week to get the water to disperse out and not stop your furnace for most of a day, each and every day, when it is 5 deg. F outside. 45 deg. inside is not guitar playing weather. Also, since it has been about 5% RH out, our humidifier (with fan) is roaring through the house trying to keep the RH inside above 35% so our guitars don't crack. We also have pans of water boiling on the stove constantly. Do you have a humidifier noise extractor in your bag of technical recording tricks?

We might get something out by this weekend, since the furnace problem seems finally over and it might warm up to mid 20's so we can shut the humidifier off for a while. I need to learn how to practice with Goretex/polarfleece gloves on.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say I'll submit a tune--I've been working on "Morning Dew" and am down to 3-4 clams/section, so maybe sometime in the next two weeks I can manage a passable take.

Whoa! Reid... that fuel guy sure picked the wrong
week to fill your tank with water (must be he picked the
wrong week to quit smoking dope ). So sorry that
yooze guyz are in such an uncomfortable situation. My
boiler has been going out the last few weeks, thought
I had it fixed, but it just went out again yesterday.
But in my case the house cools down to 66-68 deg F.

Yes the noise reduction can make the fan sound better,
but you get the "tunnel sound" and a "babbling brook"
too!

Good luck with your furnace and humidifier.

Lawrence & Cynthia -- and others
As to length of song. I set around 3 - 3.5 minutes for 2 reasons. 1) Looking at recorded songs most don't go over that, at least in my spot check and 2) I was thinking that there might be a lot of submissions, so I didn't want to get overwhelmed. Use some common sense, if you need an extra 30 seconds, no big deal. If you need an extra 3 minutes, maybe you can look to something with less verses.
If anyone sends extra songs, I will include them as space allows on a first come first serve basis. Be sure to indicate which song is your "primary" submission.

Well, that's the coolest thing I've heard all day! I guess this is an opportune time to say, "the only way to hear everyone play is to submit your song." No need to be shy.

Aloha Raymond,

my submission is finally in the mail as of now!
I put in AIFF, WAV and SD formats, so hopefully one will work. They all play on my CD player, so should be fine.

I also threw-on a file of "Moloka`i Nui A Hina" from the SF Nahenahe Chorus, which I sing with, in case you need filler. It's from a practice session prepping for our Feb 9th performance in SF. For your own enjoyment if nothing else.

cheers,
Ross-asaurus

Well I tried recording a new song last night until I was too tired. This song must be about food or something because my stomach made some loud growls while recording. Cracked me up listening to the play back. I'm going to try one more time when I'm not so hungry (or maybe it was the opposite problem of digesting too much lasagne.) Either way, my plan is to put a CD in the mail latter this week.

OK, now after having nearly 100 takes and two days to complete this recording, a question arises: How in the ^! @ !#! @ # does anyone manage to get enough good takes to make an entire CD?
