Our friend Wanda posted a link to this beautiful video of Cyril. After watching it, I am wondering what the tuning is. I know that there are some of you that will recognize it immediately. Requesting the thoughts of you experts out there.

What? You mean high "E" is the TOP string. No way dude! That changes everything!

Mahalo Peter for letting us know! I too was curious. I knew the key it was in but not the tuning because I don't know how to play ki ho'alu. Having perfect pitch is whow I could determine the key.

Thank you Peter. Is this what is considered "drop C", or is that something different?

What? You mean high "E" is the TOP string. No way dude! That changes everything!

That's quite a bit different from drop C/C Wahine/Leonard's C. Drop C is taropatch with the lowest string down one whole step.

C G D G B D - this is a tuning that requires holding down some strings to create the tonic or primary chord.

C G E G C E is a true open tuning, like taropatch, that sounds the tonic chord without pressing any strings.
