Aloha,

Thinking about the aforementioned "Humuhumunukunukuapua'a," I don't even think that the lyrics in this song are what they're saying. Listen to it and let me know. Online, the lyrics are:

I lai la
Ua i la
No mala hini 'ohana

And when they sing it, it sounds like:

I lai la
O Kaua'i la
No malihini (they probably just spelled it wrong in the lyrics) 'ohana

Part of me doesn't want to say this, but part of me does. (This is a discussion place, isn't it?) No offense to the composers of HSM 1 and 2, but I think that in "Aloha E Komo Mai," the Hawaiian sounds much better than the actual Hawaiian words did in "Humuhumunukunukuapua'a."

For those of you who don't know, it's a similar style of song to the previously mentioned one. Haven't looked for a youtube link or other link that plays the full version yet. When I do, I'll post it below.

And one last thing: If by any chance any of you have seen the Lilo and Stitch Series (the TV version on the Disney Channel), you actually haven't heard the whole entire song. There are verses that aren't included in the TV version. Oh yeah, and Jump 5 sings it just in case you're wondering. I like them. Haha.

He kehau ho'oma'ema'e ke aloha.

Here's a youtube link. Ignore the last little thing at the end of the song - a Crystal Light commercial? Is that what it is?

I think they are saying:

I lai la
Hawai`i la
No malihini `ohana

Maybe "There in Hawai`i [a place] for family visitors"?

"Makamaka" = intimate friend

It sounds like he is speaking some kind of alien pidgin with a few Hawaiian words.

It's beyond me.

I have never seen Lilo and Stitch, but didn't Uncle Dennis do "Always" for that film? Nothing nonsensical about that song. It is beautiful, especially with Uncle's guitar picking and singing and David adding his great touch with the `ukulele.

Here are lyrics for the above song. Surely seems gibberish to me. I wonder why in this instance, they put out drivel, but with the "Always" song, they asked Uncle Dennis to do the Hawaiian lyrics? Pono on one hand and not on the other.

Aloha, E Komo Mai"

I lai la
Ua i la
No mala hini ohana
Welcome cousins, e komo mai
Aloha e komo mai

Oh when you're down, you're feeling low
Got nobody by your side
It can be lonely and you want to only
Find a place, no need to hide
Just lay back you'll fit right in
You can make it all come true
'Cause there's always hope inside
And hope will see you through

Aloha... [Stitch:] Ji waba
You'll find the place that you belong
Ohana... A family to call your own
Where you feel at home
Everybody sing!

I lai la
Ua i la
No mala hini ohana
Welcome cousins, e komo mai
Aloha e komo mai

[Stitch:] Maka maka

I lai la
Ua i la
No mala hini ohana
Welcome cousins, e komo mai
Aloha e komo mai

Now you can see, tookie ba waba
Nothing but these clear blue skies
Love it has found you, and when it surrounds you
It's just like paradise
Now the door has swung wide open
Now your heart has taken wings
Feel that magic in the air
Oh hear your spirit sing

Aloha... [Stitch:] Aloha
You'll find the place that you belong
Ohana... A family to call your own
Where you feel at home
Everybody sing!

I lai la
Ua i la
No mala hini ohana
Welcome cousins, e komo mai
Aloha e komo mai

[Stitch:] iki baba

I lai la
Ua i la
No mala hini ohana
Welcome cousins, e komo mai
Aloha e komo mai

Aloha e komo mai

[Stitch] Iki tooki nee ha [tikis repeat]
[Stitch] Aka tiki baba [tikis repeat]
[Stitch] Gaba ika tasooba [tikis repeat]
[Stitch] Oocha [tikis repeat]
[Stitch] Chika [tikis repeat]
[Stitch] Miki miki coconut

I lai la
Ua i la
No mala hini ohana
Welcome cousins, e komo mai
Aloha e komo mai

[Stitch:] Miki miki coconut

I lai la, Ua i la, No mala hini ohana
[Stich tries to sing along:] Ha a waki mai, no mala hini, tasoopa, tasoopa
Welcome cousins, e komo mai
Aloha e komo mai
[Stitch:] Icky icky bo bo
Aloha e komo mai
[Stitch:] Tooki ba waba
Aloha e komo mai
[Stitch:] bye!!!

Me ke aloha
Malama pono,
Wanda

"Always" is from the second L+S film; the first one featured two songs by Mark Keali`i Ho`omalu; while "Aloha, E Komo Mai" is from the television series.

'Ae, "Always" is Uncle Dennis Kamakahi's mele.

Just wanted to clarify the fact that wasn't talking about Stitch's stuff in "Aloha E Komo Mai." Just the first lines of the chorus.

He kehau ho'oma'ema'e ke aloha.
