I was using the "Testing Forum" earlier today, and posted the first photo as a test. Andy saw it and said he liked it. So. I'm posting it here along with a few others. This was from our vacation last year on The Big Island.
We did two very smart things that day as we drove from Captain Cook to Volcano's Park:
First we stopped at "The Punalu'u Bakery" http://www.bakeshophawaii.com/
Second we stopped at "Black Sand Beach"
http://www.hawaiiweb.com/hawaii/html/beaches/punaluu_black_sand_beach.html
Where we were thrilled to see about 10 different Hawksbill Turtles coming and going in and out of the ocean to rest on the beach.
They look so serious. You'd have a serious look also if you were threatened with extinction as the Hawksbills are.
Honu moi moi
Make sure you get my best side!
Gotta go pee. Hope I make it to the water in time.
Frolicking in the tide pools. Yes, they frolic. Just a little slower than you or I do.

Great pics, Norman. Thank you for letting us enjoy them. They are superb.
PS: I've never seen them in real or up close like that. They look to me like they no can pull in their head or arms or legs. Are they like snapping turtles, who if they bite you, will not let loose until it thunders or until the sun goes down? |

They're beautiful, peaceful creatures that will sit with you on the beach or swim with you. Their main danger at this point comes from young tourists wanting to ride them. |

Oooooh Joka, The Punalu'u Bakery is one of those very special places on planet earth. Having said that though, my wife makes a killer Hawaiian Sweet Bread. A couple of weeks ago she made 2 for a party one coconut the other guava. |

Mahalo for sharing the pictures. They are amazing to see. I love honus because they are precious to the islands and some of them are even extinct.
