Getting to be that time of year. I officially start playing Christmas music at our house the day after Thanksgiving, but I've also got to start practicing songs on the piano and try for do one on `ukulele.
Does anyone have Hawaiian lyrics for Kani Kani Pele? link

I think there are two versions, "Kani Kani Pele" and "Kani Na Pele." I tried finding the lyrics to either or and had no luck. I'll keep looking because I want them too! |

Jingle Bells (Kani Na Pele) Written by: J.S. Pierpont Hawaiian lyrics by Ronald Brown
Lyrics for this are in the book which you all may have, Na Mele O Hawai'i Nei: 101 Hawaiian Songs, along with the English gloss of what the translation says (it is not identical to the English verses we know). This is a great book. I highly recommend it. It also discusses word imagery in songs, a subject inquired about not long ago here on TP.
Here's a link to a site that has lyrics for a number of Christmas songs http://blackpearldesigns.net/christmas-songs-jingle-bells.html
aloha, Sarah

'Ae, I have heard it sung this way, as I mentioned in my previous reply, but I've also heard it sung with other words. Has anyone else heard it too? Know if these ones can be found online too? |
