A couple of years ago, Sheila and I arrived on Kaua`i to find a slack key festival was to be held the next day at a hotel near the airport (Cindy Combs told us about the festival the night we arrived). We went to the venue the next morning to try to get tickets...to no avail.
We went up to the ballroom where the festival was to be held and peeked in to try to find someone to help us. A man inside saw us looking and came out to talk to us. It was Norman Solomon. He made sure we got our tickets, in the front row yet, and at a discount price.
Oh man!...that one from Norman Ka`awa Solomon makes me long for Kauai. Many of those images are very familiar to me and they become even more powerful accompanied music that seems to fit it so perfectly. It is such a beautiful place and it has been far too long since I have visited. I want ssssssoooooo bad to go back. Someday soon I hope.
I went for a brief...very brief, swim in the frigid waters of the Oregon coast last week. Takes your breath away...especially after you come up screaming. Ssssoooo cold. I may not have attempted it had there not been a hot tub a short sprint across the sand at the vacation home we were renting. I kept thinking about how nice and warm the ocean is in the islands compared to what I was enduring here at home. Seeing those images of the waters of Kauai...well, I can't wait to splash around in them again.
What? You mean high "E" is the TOP string. No way dude! That changes everything!
