Dennis - Paul and I just might have to visit Oakland in January. Talk about creme de la creme. And talk about three wonderful gentlemen. And talk about good music.

Please note that January 22, 2008 is a Tuesday. Yoshi's is an unusual venue as for the first concert the doors open two hours before the show and they allow you to enter to choose your seats only, then you leave to kill two hours, like by having dinner. Yoshi's has good food and I have been told that if you make reservations to eat there they have some sort of arrangement for you to choose your seats early - altho I don't see that discussed on their website. 2nd show is different as you can't get your seats early. The last time I was there I went to the first show and when the 2nd show didn't sell out, they let people from the first show stay over at no cost. There plenty of other places to eat around Jack London Square, or you can hang out in the various bars and drink to excess. Enjoy. |

Aloha Bubba,
Thanks for the info. This will be the first slack key venue to play there and even on a Tuesday night, it promises to be interesting. Hopefully, it will lead to other slack key/Hawaiian music shows to play there too, as well as the Yoshi's in SF.
The three of us will be flying up from L.A. after the Southern California Slack Key Festival on Sunday, January 20th in Redondo Beach.
Hope to see many of our friends in the East Bay and SF to catch up on what's been happening.
Aloha, Dennis |

Aloha Uncle Dennis, too bad I am unable to catch you at this performance but by the sound of it, its sounds great. Keep up the music and you are playing with some awesome slack key guitar players! Hope to catch you sometimes on the home turf here on O'ahu.

Hey, Dennis - Yoshi's is a famous jazz dive - I saw Miles there in the early 60's. I'm in Seattle & played with you on your last visit. |

Keaka (slipry1), the Yoshi's that you remember is long gone, having been replaced by a more modern venue in Oakland's Jack London Square several years ago. Just FYI --- |

I just saw on the news last night that a new Yoshis' is opening in San Francisco, in the Fillmore district. They mentioned featuring Jazz and local talent.
I am going to Oakland in Jan, Looks to be a great show....

Dennis - You kjnow I ALMOST bought tickets to San Francisco for Paul for Christmas so we could come see you guys and maybe take a bit of sightseeing tour in the Bay area, since we have never been there. Then for some reason, I decided to buy him the Zoom H2 recorder instead. Good thing, with the heart problems I have faced. Even though my heart surgery is preventing us from enjoying your, George's and Cyril's wonderful music, both our hearts will be with you as you wow the audiences on the West Coast.

George/Dennis/Cyril: What a great performance. You guys make it look so easy. So much great music in one night. It was inspired to keep practicing, but also was awaken to level that I can only dream of achieving. Each performer has their own style which was great to hear during the "jam" portion of the performance. Thanks guys for a great show, Les |

Aloha and mahalo to the "Three Slackateers".
What a wonderful evening of music and Aloha. Hope to see any and all of you back again in the Santa Cruz area. It was so nice to see an enthusiastic standing room only crowd at "The Attic".
My only disappointment was when Uncle Cyril said that he sold every one (4 boxes worth) of his new CD at the first stop of the tour in Los Angeles. Wow!
Uncle Dennis, your new music is beautiful. Thank you for the talk story about Feet Rogers and The Sons of Hawaii before the concert.

So in amongst all this great music with Dennis, George & Cyril...has anyone seen Patrick Landeza? Was he at any of the shows? I sincerely hope we do not lose him from the slack key world to the world of gotta pay the bills and raise the keiki. |

Patrick is doing well, continuing to unwind and enjoy his teaching job and his family time. His playing and singing were definitely on form at his Christmas show, and he's included in the promo material for the Swanannoa Guitar camp again this year.

So he really, really is teaching at Swanannoa for sure. He was on the brochure, but I did not know if it would really happen. Cool that. Paul -- you want to go Swanannoa this year???? |
