Here in LA, I found the perfect antidite to turkeyitis - on the corner of Pico and Lincoln in Santa Monica there is a Tommy's (the best chiliburger know to man IMHO) AND an L&L. Hey, Thumbs - spam musubi for breakfast & a chiliburger for lunch!!! Life is good. Oh - count me in for da prize! |

A Tommy burger for lunch? Sheesh, we must be getting old, oh slippery one!
Back in the wayback the proper time to eat a Tommy burger was between 2:30 and 4 in the morning in Hollyweird, when the rockers stumbled out of the studios to mix with the usual unusual ellay club detritus & the motorcycle zombies cruising for kool.
Inching forward in the line at Tommy's with yer bloodshot eyes trying not to make contact with whatever it was that stood next to you was a right of passage akin to yer first oliy well drink in a dank & smokey wood-paneled bar in Studio City...
Tommy Burgers, oh how I miss 'em. Be sure to wash one down with a-no-brand neon green carbonated beverage for me.

I'd love to have Cyril's new CD especially since I was raised in He'eia! |

"He`eia" was the first song on my journey into Hawaiian music, on my way to slack key. I heard this song on Hawaiian Airlines on my very first trip to Hawaii, Island of Molokai. I had five hours to hear it over and over. It was the version by Hapa. Spent a wonderful weak on Molokai, and when I returned to the "main"land, something had happened to me. I tracked down the Hapa album, learned the very interesting story behind this old song, picked up a ukuelele, tuned down the strings of my guitar and I've been slackin' ever since thanks to Ozzie Kotani (and thanks, Captain Mike, about the tip re Ozzie Kotani!). Thanks to all of you, and to Taropatch as well, for awakening my musical interest. |
Slow down! It's Molokai. |

Mark, if you were in Hollywood, surely you stopped at Pinks to teach you tummy a lesson for being bad. |

Got the BFN one already. It's way cool. I will gladly accept the Cyril Pahinui, if I am the lucky winner!! |

Tommy Burgers...Ah, the best ones are still on Beverly and Rampart. Mark, I must've been in front of you (or Haole Boy at Pink's) waiting in that line at 3am , bleery-eyed and all (my hometown WAS Hollyweird). Memories (or lack of)....
Count me in on the giveaway! Both are on my list of ones to get soon.

They are both really good! The BFN disc is filled with good fun as well as strong playing, and Cyril's is ... well, he's one of the greats, as you all know; I love the fact that he does different versions of the same song, in a couple of places. |

I never thought I would be reminded of Tommy's here. I pass Tommy's every time I come to LA for a visit with my brother in Culver City.
I used to eat a Tommy Burger or their Chili Fries every day for lunch in High School when they were on Ocean and Pico.
My daughter insists on eating there at least once whenever she is visiting from the islands.
