Hauoli Makahiki Hou, all -
If, like so many others, you have been lamenting the inexplicable lack of bagpipes in Hawaiian music, you might be interested in the following three videos:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDNbKfNaxpE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5U_-vPtemSY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5tZeJOfsEE
If, on the other hand, you are incurious, easily offended, culturally sensitive or a member of the music police, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
Yours for multi-cultural understanding,
Mark

We were just discussing that lack the other night---thank Ujisan and his merry elves (gnomes?) for solving the lack. Wanna try for didjeridoo next? |

Bagpipes aren't for the faint of heart. Maybe the faint of ear. |

Mark, you are one wild and crazy guy!
Mahalo for the enlightenment, not to mention the good laughs.
Are pipes in the offing at AMC?

A gentleman at our church who plays bagpipes at the (very) occasional service asked me to consider joining him during one future Sunday on the ukulele. He was serious.
After hearing/watching these videos, I'm pretty certain I'm gonna take a pass on that one. Although, if I did, I'm not thinking I'd need to practice a lot since I'm sure no one would hear the ukulele anyway. |

ohhhh aaaooowww that "percussionist" has a WEIRD sense of timing
I wonder if the pipes were softer and the Guitar tuned relative to the pipes -- it might not sound too bad -- NEVER MIND.
I have to admit, though. Even though it is not good music it is pretty good comedy. I think the fellas were into their whisky a little and having some fun.
Can't think to wonder if Keola Donaghy might like it . . ya think? |

Wow! Can you imagine the "footprint" that the pipes would leave on the sensitive ecosystem of the islands? Those videos are living proof that one should never, ever use single malt to make mai tai's! By the way, I am of Scottish descent, so the politically-correct police can look elsewhere. Ben Sterling (nee Stirling) |

Get pipe bands in the islands. Every police dept seems to have one. Could have chosen something other than Tiny Bubbles though. |

OH MY GOSH MARK!!!!
I love it! That is too funny! No doubt in honor of our beloved Scots/Hawaiian princess?
Some years ago, I actually was at an event in which bagpipes were played to honor fallen Hawai`i veterans. It was really quite nice! (If you love bagpipes, as I do). I don't remember the exact song list or line-up, but included were:
Amazing Grace Old Plantation Aloha `Oe Hawai`i Pono`i So. . . . . whoooooooo is playing the strings? Malama! Leilehua |
