I am surprised that this song has not been transcribed by one of the masters. Is this song considered "off limits" or just one of the more obscure songs? I consider to be the prettiest of all Hawaiian songs. Seems that the version in C Moana Loa tuning is kept somewhat of a secret. Thanks.

Ozzie has been teaching this song in workshops for the past few years. It's a beautiful arrangement in TaroPatch.

In case some are not aware of this, Danny Carvalho has it on his CD as a medley with "Waika." They fit together so well that if you didn't know the tunes beforehand, it is difficult to tell where one ends and the other starts. Perhaps Danny's version comes from Ozzie with whom he studied. I really enjoyed it and have listened to it about a thousand times. I still like Makana's best and have worked out tab so I can learn it on my upcoming trip. (However, I've also discovered that he does some incredible stretches on it that are way beyond me.) Nonetheless, if you haven't already heard Danny's, it is well worth it.

Big Dog is correct. I learned this from Ozzie's tab and play it regularly. A do-able Taro Patch rendition even for inexperienced players. |

It is not a terribly challenging piece technically; it is however a challenge to memorize all the "atypical" fingerings. It is well worth it to learn, people love this one.
If you are interested in the tab I will ask Ozzie if its OK that I send you a copy. Let me know by email please.

Tell me more about who did this in Mauna Loa? What recordings? I'm wonderin'. I have the Ozzie tab in Taropatch... Reckon' I'll just sit here in the Taropatch for now... He captures the original pizzaz, and then some... but Mauna Loa could sound nice. Is that CGEGAE? |

Hi Kapila - a little cheeky, but is Ozzie okay with sharing tab? I'd love to hear this tune over here in the UK! |

Just picked up the guitar to figure out the tuning and found that the video in the second link is in Taropatch. With a little effort I think a person could figure this one out just by watching and listening. |
What? You mean high "E" is the TOP string. No way dude! That changes everything! |
