Hello and aloha brahs & sis ...

My name is Felix. I live in Jakarta, Indonesia.
I love Hawaiian music & hula. In 2000 I worked in Kahului, Maui, and in 2002 when I was in California, I joined a halau in Sunnyvale (S.F.Bay Area).

Nice to meet U all, hope we will be able to discuss and share our knowledges about nâ leo nahenahe o Hawai’i Nei ... .

Aloha Felix and welcome to Taro Patch. You will find folks here who are most willing to discuss and share their knowledge about the beautiful, sweet sounds of Hawai`i. Jakarta is a long, long ways away! Are you able to dance hula in Indonesia? Do you play a instrument?

Once again, e komo mai!

Me ke aloha
Malama pono,
Wanda

Aloha ... thanks for your "Hawaiian Hospitality", brahs & titas ...
Unfortunately I do not play any instruments ( but I wish I could ... or got time to learn to play 'ukulele ).
I occasionally sing for the music group, I can dance a few 'auanas, and more oftenly offer Hawaiian song repertoire and translate Hawaiian words for our music performances ).

Actually, Indonesian songs & musics have what so-called 'connections' with Polynesian songs/musics. Some Indonesian traditional songs may be played in Hawaiian style and a hula may be adapted as well.

One or our former president ( who is severely ill now ) was a bad guy - he had banned Hawaiian music from television in 1980. My present association, The Hawaiian-Indonesia Beach Music Association, is now struggling to "revive" this kind of music by regenerating the music performers. many Indonesian young people do not know Hawaiian music, but some of them just fall in love with Hawaiian songs when I play Keali'i Reichel, Pure Heart, or Pomai & Loeka ... ;-)
